The very young Brookstone Baseball Varsity team finished 18-12 overall before losing in the second round of the GHSA state playoffs. The Cougars finished second in Region 4-A with a 13-3 Region Record. Coach Massey credits the 2011 region record and playoff results to an extremely tough non-region schedule again this year.
Ten of the Cougars made the All-Region Team to include all three seniors Joey Lewis, Shawn Thomas & Tyler Jordan. Duncan Fletcher, Cannon Jarrell, Tim Kennedy, Drew Lingo, Austin Pair, Keith Pridgen & Max Williams were also selected. All-Bi City players included Joey Lewis, Drew Lingo, Tim Kennedy & Shawn Thomas.
Lewis & Thomas were selected to play in the Senior All State All-Star game in Macon where Coach Vince Massey was selected by the Georgia Dugout Club as the Head Coach of the Southwest team. The team posted a 4-0 record to win the tournament. Additionally, Lewis was selected as one of twenty players to play with Team Georgia in the Heartland Classic in Oklahoma, where he was chosen to the All Tournament Team.
Joey Lewis signed to play baseball with the University of Tennessee and Shawn Thomas with Darton College. They will join former teammates Neal Amos Oglethorpe University, Brewer Carter , Taylor Herndon & Garrett Hix at the collegiate level.
The Junior Varsity team completed a successful season where the players gained valuable experience to contribute to the Varsity in years to come. It was the inaugural year for the Middle School Baseball team that finished third in the league coached by Jimmy Thompson and for the Diamond Doll Statisticians Joanna Leger, Montana Pugh, Caroline Sparks, Taylor Timmons, Morgan Webb & Alyssa Woodward. Thank you to the Diamond Dolls sponsor Mrs. Cynthia Lingo. With the addition of the Middle School team the baseball program grew to 51 students participating in 2011.
None of the successes would have been attainable without the dedication of Community Coaches Josh Browning, Jeff Jones & Tim Kennedy.
