Despite four hits, Brookstone lost 9-3 to Wesleyan on Saturday.
Matt Jones got on base three times in the game for Brookstone with one single, two walks and scoring once. Tim Kennedy put two runs on the board off of three plate appearances to include a walk and a hit. Williams went 1 for 3 to include a RBI to score one of the Cougars three runs.
Max Williams worked out of five tough spots for Brookstone. He pitched five innings and allowed no earned runs on one hit. Williams faced his trickiest spot in the fifth inning.
Four relief pitchers didn't loosen their grasp on the win as they finished off the game for Wesleyan. J Stark faced eight batters in relief, while Spears managed to record four outs to aid the win.
Wesleyan got the win even though Mason Colquitt didn't last long on the rubber. Colquitt was replaced after just two innings. Colquitt gave up no hits and no runs.
The game was scoreless until Brookstone broke the ice with one run in the fourth. Brookstone collected its runs on a passed ball. The game's last lead went to Wesleyan thanks to a sixth inning rally that saw eight runs cross the plate on a fielder's choice, a three-run home run by Griffin Bone off of relief pitcher Drew Lingo, a passed ball, and two singles. Wesleyan continued to add four runs on the board off of relief pitcher Matt Jones.
