Brookstone Cougars use big seventh inning to beat Commerce, 14-3
Brookstone Cougars Varsity blew out Commerce 14-3 on Saturday after pouring on eight runs in the seventh inning.
Andrew Hamric racked up four RBIs on two hits for Brookstone Cougars Varsity. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Parker James was in control on the rubber. Commerce managed just two hits off of the Brookstone Cougars Varsity's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out four during his five innings of work.
Keenan Lord took the loss for Commerce. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out seven, and allowed three runs.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity never trailed after scoring three runs in the third on an error and two sacrifice flys.
After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, Commerce faced just a 3-2 deficit. A passed ball and a groundout by Chandler Rogers sparked Commerce's rally. Finally, Parker got Cal Garner to ground out to end the threat.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity increased its lead with three runs in the sixth. Guy Peek's single got things going, scoring Hunter Green. That was followed up by Andrew's two-run home run, plating Guy.
