Brookstone Cougars Varsity refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against LaGrange, recording an 8-2 victory on Tuesday.
The game was decided quickly as Brookstone Cougars Varsity exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
A fielder's choice and a two-run home run by Guy Peek during the first inning and an RBI double by Keith Pridgen in the second inning fueled Brookstone Cougars Varsity's offense early.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity was led by Drew Webb's hitting. Drew went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.
LaGrange couldn't get anything going so long as Jarrod Little was on the hill. LaGrange managed just one hit off of the Brookstone Cougars Varsity's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out two during his four innings of work.
Hood took the loss for LaGrange. He allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out two.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity piled on two more runs in the top of the third. Eli Ussery started the inning with a double, bringing home Andrew Hamric. That was followed up by Jarrod's double, scoring Eli.
