Savannah Christian's sixth inning rally in 6-3 win over Cougars
A tight game was decided in the sixth inning as Brookstone Cougars Varsity fell to Savannah Christian 6-3 in seven innings on Friday.
Andrew Hamric reached base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the seventh inning.
Brockman got the win in relief for Savannah Christian. Brockman pitched two innings and allowed one run.
Parker James was charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Brookstone Cougars Varsity got things going when Keith Pridgensingled. Hunter Green singled, plating Matt Jones.
Brookstone Cougars Varsity brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the second, Brookstone Cougars Varsity scored on an RBI triple by Pridgen, bringing home Jones.
The game was never in doubt after the sixth, as Savannah Christian scored three runs on an RBI double by Brandon Deal and a two-run single by Ryan Langston.
Savannah Christian piled on two more runs in the top of the seventh. The inning looked promising, as Ben Haeussler doubled, scoring Ben Jackson to kick things off.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the seventh, Brookstone Cougars Varsity faced just a 6-3 deficit. A solo home run by Hamric triggered Brookstone Cougars Varsity's comeback. Brockman got the last out, as Brookstone Cougars Varsity's James Sherrer.
