Early lead gives Brookstone victory over Manchester, 11-0
Brookstone jumped out to an early lead on Manchester and captured an 11-0 victory on Monday.
The game was decided quickly as Brookstone exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Hunter Green, an RBI double by Andrew Hamric, and a two-run triple by Jarrod Little in the first inning and a bases loaded walk by Carroll during the second inning fueled Brookstone 's offense early.
Brookstone 's Matt Jones was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Manchester couldn't get anything going so long as Preston Campbell was on the hill. Campbell gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven during his three innings of work.
Harris ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
Brookstone piled on two more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Green singled, bringing home Walker Cottrell to kick things off. That was followed up by Drew Webb's single, plating Jones.
Brookstone added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A passed ball scored Little to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Jones' single, scoring Cottrell and Sam Lowe.
