Matt Jones's big day not enough, as Brookstone loses 11-5 to Harris County
Matt Joneswent 3-4 at the plate, but Brookstone fell 11-5 to Harris County on Wednesday.
Even though Cobb allowed five runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out nine, walked three and surrendered eight hits.
Harris County was sparked by Cobb and Mayley, who teamed up for two hits and four RBIs.
Culver Norred couldn't get it done on the hill for Brookstone , taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked none and struck out one.
In the bottom of the first, Harris County grabbed the early lead, 2-0. After Cobb singled, Mayley homered, scoring Cobb.
The game was never in doubt after the third, as Harris County scored five runs on an error, a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly by Powell, and an RBI single by Morgan.
One Brookstone run crossed the plate in the top half of the fourth, making the score 7-3. An RBI double by Jones sparked Brookstone 's rally. Harris County stopped the rally after Cobb got Hunter Green to ground out.
Two runs in the top of the fifth helped Brookstone close its deficit to 7-5. An error and an RBI single by Guy Peek fueled Brookstone 's comeback. Finally, Cobb induced an inning-ending ground out from Parker James.
Harris County built upon its lead with three runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored Hartshorne for the inning's first run.
