Early lead gives Brookstone victory over Marion County, 16-1
Brookstone jumped out to an early lead on Marion County and captured a 16-1 victory on Friday.
The game was decided quickly as Brookstone exerted its will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
A two-run single by Guy Peek, an RBI single by Preston Campbell, and a two-run double by Mitchell Cox during the first inning and a walk by Campbell in the second inning supplied the early offense for Brookstone .
Andrew Hamric racked up four RBIs on two hits for Brookstone . He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Jarrod Little shut down Marion County while he was on the bump. Marion County managed just three hits off of Little, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his five innings of work.
Jj Fuller ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out four.
Brookstone tacked on another three runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as Hamric homered, bringing home Hunter Green to kick things off. That was followed up by Parker James's double, plating Banks Massey.
Brookstone built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth. Drew Webb started the inning with a single, bringing home Daniel Amos.
Brookstone added five more runs in the top of the fifth. Cox kicked things off with a double, bringing home Coleman Killorin and Amos. That was followed up by Webb's double, scoring Cox.
