Wednesday was a day Banks Massey will remember forever as Massey threw a no-hitter in Brookstone's 15-0 victory over Dooly County.
No Dooly County batter was able to locate Massey's pitches during the game. Massey threw a no-hitter, striking out nine batters and walking six while recording his momentous feat. He got Colbert to strike out for the final out of the game.
Fourteen runs in the opening three innings allowed Brookstone to easily put away Dooly County. A passed ball, a steal of home by Walker Cottrell, and a two-run error during the first inning and a two-run error, a sacrifice fly by Preston Campbell, and a two-run home run by Sam Lowe in the second inning fueled Brookstone's offense early.
Trey Lingo went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for Brookstone. He singled in the second and fourth innings.
Smith couldn't get it done on the hill for Dooly County, taking a loss. He allowed 15 runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out none.
Brookstone added five more runs in the bottom of the third. Cottrell's single got things going. That was followed up by Daniel Amos's single, scoring Campbell and Lingo.
